Swallow Class Introduction

Hello, my name is Miss Day and I am the teacher in 3/4D.

I am passionate about Maths, Reading, French and PE. In my spare time I love going to the gym and taking part in fitness classes. I have high expectations of all of the children in my class and expect that they follow our rules we came up with as a class.

My aim is for every child in my class to be independent, successful learners, confident and build up essential life skills.  Working in 3/4D alongside myself is Mrs Walker and Miss Simpson. They both have the same expectations and offer support in lessons to ensure the children remain happy and productive.

PE Day

Our class PE day is a Tuesday and Thursday.

Please can children bring their PE kits into school as they now get changed in school. In their kits, there should be appropriate sportswear, preferably black bottoms and a white T-shirt.

We kindly ask that your child does not wear earrings to school on this day and all hair must be tied back.

During the Winter months, children should also bring in a warm jumper/hoodie, as some sessions will be taking place outside.

Homework

Children now have a homework exercise book in which they will complete any homework. This will be set on a Friday and will be due in by the following Wednesday. This will be either Maths or English based.

Reading

Children are also provided with a reading book which I recommend they read for 10 minutes daily. This is an Accelerated Reader book for which they will complete a short comprehension assessment when finished. Children can complete this at home or in school using the link below:

Accelerated Reader

We continue to encourage even our strongest readers to read with parents and carers, and as such, a reading record is also sent home for you to record and comment on any reading done outside of the classroom. Please find our reading expectations explained below:

Children also have access to Timetable Rockstar’s which I recommend they go on 3 times a week.
