Welcome to our Children’s Leadership Team
The Children’s Leadership Team play an important role at Ox Close and 2 members are elected from each year group (Years 1 to 6). Leadership Team members participate in Class Council discussions with their peers and meet with the Assistant Executive Headteacher (AEHT) on a regular basis. During these meetings, members have the opportunity to bring matters to the attention of the AEHT, while also following an agreed agenda. This agenda is drawn up by the Children’s Champion, who this year is Sofia from 5/6T. Sofia was elected as the latest Children’s Champion following a process where all candidates had the opportunity to create a video of their speech to persuade others to vote for them.
Meetings have been taking place throughout the Autumn Term. The first task which was undertaken by members was to take part in developing a Pupil Charter to be used across the Federation. Before Christmas, the members will be invited to complete a survey and this will help form a Children’s School Improvement Plan. The Children’s Champion will also have the opportunity to take part in events with school leaders throughout the year, including developing and sharing school rules and expectations throughout the school. It is also hoped to arrange for all Children’s Leadership Team members to meet with democratically elected representatives such as councillors and MPs over the course of the academic year.
