Things to do at home with your child:
Maths:
-Count forwards and backwards from any number.
-Count in 2’s to 20, 5’s to 50 and 10’s to 100 (forwards first then try backwards)
-Look for numbers everywhere (on packaging labels, car registration plates, door numbers etc.)
-Practise writing numbers in sand, flour, mud, and paint, as well as with pens and pencils.
All children in Reception can now access Ten Town. Information about this can be found here: Ten Town Information for Parents.
English:
-Practise blending sounds to read simple words
-Look for sounds they know: in papers, in magazines, on packaging.
-Practise writing letters in sand, flour, mud and paint.
-Make letter and words with play dough.
-Read books with your child and ask them some questions e.g. Do you like it? What might happen next?
What do you think they should do now? Which is your favourite part? Do you know any other stories like this?
