Seaham Beach – June 2019
On Tuesday 11th and 18th of June, Year 1 and 2 enjoyed two fantastic trips to Seaham Beach for ‘Beach School’. They were two very contrasting trips in terms of the weather: the Year 1’s enjoyed glorious sunshine and warmth, while the Year 2’s endured a cold, blustery day. However, they did not let this dampen their spirits, as both groups relished the opportunity for some outdoor learning. Activities included beach art, stone stacking, rockpooling, roasting marshmallows and searching for sea glass. Everyone had a brilliant time and the children were a credit to the school. We would like to thank Chris Baker from Scouted who provided an excellent and enthusiastic day of learning.
Working with Adam Bushnall
Year 2 had a fantastic morning working with Adam to plan our own dinosaur stories. He showed us how to design our own dinosaurs and helped us to describe them using interesting adjectives. We thoroughly enjoyed the morning and are looking forward to writing our stories next week.
Trip to the Hancock Museum
Class 1/2P had a wonderful trip to the Hancock Museum on Wednesday as part of our topic on Dinosaurs this term.
We were very excited about seeing the T-Rex skeleton and looking at how enormous it was. We all enjoyed looking around the museum and using the interactive displays. The workshop was really interesting and we learnt lots about how fossils were formed and even handled some fossilised dinosaur poo! Ox Close Primary have now got a beautiful butterfly on the virtual display wall, after making their voluntary contribution to the museum. The butterfly will be on display for the whole year.
Walking with Dinosaurs
We have been using an interactive site to bring dinosaurs to life in our History lessons. We were able to make T-Rex and Triceratops walk around the tables and roar. It was really exciting. We also spent time using non-fiction texts to ask and answer questions about dinosaurs.
