2017 – 2018
January 2018 – Wind Road Boys
Our KS2 children have been working with Enter CIC as part of theie upcoming production of Wind Road Boys. This project has been organised and funded by the Mayor, Ian Machin. All children were involved in the inital workshops and from those a small number of children have been selected to take part in further rehearsals with children from other Spennymoor schools. The children had lots of fun in the sessions and as you can tell from the photos were superb actors. The final performnce will take place in Spennymoor Town Hall in March 2018.
New Homework – November 2017
We are thrilled to be trialling a new and exciting homework system with Key Stage 2 between now and the Christmas holidays. The aim is that the children find the homework more enjoyable, parents find the tasks and timescales manageable and most importantly, that homework can be a time for parents and children to work together.
All children in KS2 have a homework ‘Pick and Mix’ grid. The tasks are all linked to the topic that your child is currently studying in school and each task has a weighting of points linked to it. Between now and Christmas, we are asking the children complete whichever activities they like from the grid – the only rule is that by Christmas they must have completed enough tasks to earn at least 10 points.
An electronic copy of the homework grid can be found below:
If you have any questions about the homework then please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher or Miss Bowden.
September 2017
So far in Maths we have completed lots of practical activities with partners and in groups. We have been learning about different ways to represent numbers and, more recently, how to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100, 1000 and 10,000. Over the past we have been learning about Place Value and the number system and we are looking forward to moving on to Addition and Subtraction next week.
