Welcome to Class 6 S – Mrs Shepherd
Here you will find important information about our routines, curriculum and general information. We will also keep you updated about the amazing activities we have been getting up to at school in our class blog which is at the bottom of this page – please scroll down to find out more.
Reading
Children will bring home a suitable reading book at their assessed level, which they are free to read both at home and in school – we ask that these books travel to and from home each day. Once finished, children will complete an Accelerated Reader test and be free to change their book during library time (Mon-Wed, Fri 9:00-9:30am).
PE Day
As of September 2022, our PE day will be a Wednesday. Please can children arrive at school in their kits, which should be appropriate sportswear, preferably black bottoms and a white T-shirt. All hair must be tied back and earrings removed.

March 2022 – Hoopstars!
We have had a great time taking part in Hoopstars today here at Ox Close. As well as learning to hula hoop and perform tricks, it was lovely to get outside and make the most of the sunshine. Take a look…
February 2022 – Volleyball Tournament
Today Year 6 have been competing in the first round of our 5/6 Volleyball Tournament, competing in teams of 6 or 7 in a round-robin style event. From this, our top two teams will go through to face the top two teams from Year 5 once these have been selected. The children were fantastic and showed how truly competitive they can be!
January 2022 – Welcome to 2022!
6S have been thinking about our goals and dreams for 2022, and how we might record these. In Art today, we have experimented with different mediums to help us create a mood board to start off the new term. Take a look…
October 2021 – Printing Feathers
What better way to end the half term than with some ink printing in Art. We created designs on tiles, before rolling ink onto them and using them to make multiple prints of our feathers. Although a messy job, the children had great fun in trying something a little different. Take a look…
October 2021 – Using Historical Sources
As we continue to look at the impact of British monarchs, we have begun to make an in-depth study of Queen Elizabeth I. As well as finding out key information such as her full name and date of birth, we have been using artefact and written sources to make inferences about her character and influence. These skills are certainly tricky to develop but Mrs Shepherd has been so impressed by the enthusiasm of her class – well done!
September 2021 – Fencing!
We were so excited to welcome back our fantastic fencing coaches today for another session. The children all thoroughly enjoy these activities and performed with great skill and poise! Well done 6S!
Welcome Back!
Now that we have had a full week back at school, it has been great to see all of 6S make such a great start to their final year here at Ox Close. A mixture of outside experiments, games, role play sessions and independent activities has made for a very busy week indeed!
