Reception

Welcome to Reception at Springmoor Grange School.

Classes

  • Rose – Mrs Woods
  • Tulip – Mr Crowther

Welcome to Reception class page. Here you will find important information about our routines, curriculum and general information.

SeeSaw News

We love to hear about all of the exciting things that children get up to outside of school.

Rather than bring items in for ‘Show and Tell’, we ask that a photo of the item/event is added to SeeSaw.

This will then be shared with the class during the week.

Reading
Children will be taught to read using the Little Wandle scheme. You will be given information about how your child is taught phonics in school as a vehicle to develop their love of reading. We will also share with how you can support your child’s reading journey at home.

Each week, staff will send home a sheet that shows which sounds your child has been learning. There are also videos for parents on the Little Wandle website that demonstrate how your child is taught to say each sound.

On a Friday, your child will bring home a book from our class lending library.  Please enjoy this book at home together as many times as you like. We will swap these books each Friday – we can only swap books when last week’s book is returned.

If you need any further support, please do not hesitate to get in touch with your child’s class teacher.

PE

In Reception your child can come to school in their PE clothes for the full day – no need for changing.  Our PE day is a TUESDAY.

Please ensure any earrings are removed before your child comes into school.

Please make sure that your child has the correct PE Kit:

  • Black shorts, white t-shirt and trainers
  • No football or sports tops please.
  • Tracksuit bottoms for outdoor lessons.
